PERSONALITY

Mental Health: As explained by Anastasia Luccio in ‘Small Favor’, most often the bearers of the Archive become mentally unstable because the weight of the knowledge they possess and the memories they can not escape.

Sofie is no different and can sometimes be described as near schizophrenic. Not only must she deal with the mantle of the Archive, but she also has the public persona of a powerful crime lord’s daughter, either of which would be enough to make a girl go a bit crazy.

Sofie, much like John, has refined herself into a new personality that the public sees, while her private personality is far less confident and strong. When under pressure, Sofia reverts to her most natural personality, The Archive, who has an even more professional non emotional outlook. Should that pressure increase to the point of emotionally breaking her, Sofie retreats to her more ‘Ivy’ like persona. As she’s grown up, the scared little girl has grown into a strange young woman, who’s manner of speaking is similar to that of Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter series. What she’s saying makes perfect sense....really. You just don’t get it yet. This way of speaking is similar to the crypic communications of former Archives The Pythia ( Oracle of Delphie) and (mun suspects) Cassandra.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The Archive is a magic construct of unknown age and unknown orgins designed to protect human knowledge in the event of the lose of all other documentation of said knowledge. The bearer of the Archive is always female, and it is passed down from mother to daughter upon the mother’s death. Simple put, the Archive knows everything. if it has been written down, typed out or recorded in anyway, The Archive just knows.

The Archive demonstrates remarkable magical power while being attacked by the eight Denarians. She was able to work two types of magic simultaneously and nearly flawlessly, all while under extreme emotional distress. The White Council’s files compare her power to that of the youngest Queens of the Sidhe, though Harry Dresden feels they underestimate the Archive’s ability.

If she has been formally trained in this body to control her innate magic ability is unknown, but it is probable that somewhere in the history of the Archives knowledge she was formally trained an it has been passed down. Ivy has shown that though she possesses all documented human knowledge, it does not necessarily mean she understands it on a level that someone would after learning the ‘hard way’.

The Archive was created to be a neutral party, however Harry Dresden points out that ‘Ivy’ (and later, Sofia) is not. She is a child, a human, and subject to the same leanings as any person would be. In this, The Archive has learned many loopholes and gray areas to this limitation. When presented with a direct threat to someone she cares about, that neutrally seems to all but vanish, as shown during the battle with the Danarians where she protects both Harry Dresden and Jared Kincaid with her magical abilities.


Short History
Following the events in ‘Small Favor’ in which the Archive was captured and tortured by Nicodimous in an attempt to force her to take up a blackened denarius, ‘Gentleman’ John Marcone, unsatisfied with the level of protection both Jared Kincaid and Harry Dresden offered the Archive, adopts the girl as his daughter and raises her as his own. He gives her the alias Sofia Antonia Marcone, which loosely means ‘invaluable wisdom’.

It has been speculated by many that ‘Sofia’ is the daughter of John Marcone and security consultant Miss Gard due to the fact that Gard and Marcone work closely together and Sofia physically resembles Gard. Neither Gard nor Marcone have made any attempt to refute this assumption as it keeps the Archive that much more hidden.

Once she is old enough, Marcone begins grooming The Archive to be his heir. She knows is ‘secret’ of being an un-outted wizard, and willingly accepts this position and works to learn from her father figure.

Once Harry and Marcone enter into a relationship, the Archive accepts Harry as another parent figure. Harry has been known to refer to himself as a ‘Mama Bear’ and treats the Archive as he would his own daughter.
